Rajesh Kumar Jain is presently working as Additional GM with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. He heads the flagship rooftop scheme of SECI which has given a boost to the rooftop installations among all sectors in India, including Residential, Industrial, commercial, social and institutional sectors. He is responsible for continuously monitoring all the SECI supported rooftop projects from design to execution stage and the subsequent inspection.

R.K. Jain has been associated with the solar industry for over 35 years and has held various engineering and managerial positions. He has designed several of Off-grid and grid-tied Solar PV Power Plants installed across the country.

During his long association with the first solar company in India, Central Electronics Ltd., he had the opportunity of designing and executing several “First in India” solar projects including the first ever grid-Interactive project of 15 KWp capacity in Kayathar, Tamilnadu in 1994 and the first Building Integrated Solar Photovoltaic (BIPV) Plant of 25 KWp in Chandigarh in 2004. He was also involved in executing many prestigious solar power projects including those installed in Rashtrapati Bhawan and Taj Mahal.

He was engaged in the Electrification of 90 Tribal Villages in the Baster region of Chattishgarh in 2002. He also led the team that executed the village electrification project in Afghanistan supported by the Government of India. Under this project 101 remote villages spread across five provinces were electrified. Both the projects were executed under very challenging conditions and he derived immense satisfaction as it provided access to basic electricity to the villagers and literally brought them a life which they had never experienced before.

R.K. Jain is the Chairman of the Power Electronics subcommittee (ET 31) of the Bureau of Indian Standards which is working on finalizing the Power Electronics standards.

R.K. Jain holds a Graduate Degree in Electronics and Telecommunication and a Masters Degree in Marketing Management.
